Who We Are

The adoption and celebration of National Freedom Day annually on February first of each year are supported by the facts and objectives as follows:

Seventy-nine years ago, on February 1, 1865, the United States Congress and President Lincoln agreed by their vote and his signature to submit by two-thirds of the States of the Union, the 13th Amendment to our Constitution.

For the first time in the history of our Republic our National powers effected this agreement, whose enactment wiped from our constitution every vestige of law favoring human slavery.

It is the ardent desire of millions of its beneficiaries to give substantial recognition to the enactment of this epochal joint agreement by Congress and the President, for the freedom of all men.

Hence, thus wanting the selection of February first the anniversary of the passage of this 13th Amendment, as a substantial foundation for the naming and the celebration of National Day.

The purpose of the National Freedom Day is to memorialize the anniversary of the birthday of this agreement for the great Amendment to promote and foster the spirit of good-will, peace, security and unity among the people of the United States.

The annual celebration is intended to bring forcibly to the attention of every citizen that this Nation, under God, is dedicated to universal freedom: freedom of labor, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom from want, freedom from fear and freedom of all Americans to vote, to hold office and enjoy all rights, privileges and immunities of the Republic.
